Table Printing Control Dialog - Symbology Tab

Used to set the Symbology for printing design files.

Opens when Map Finishing > Table Printing Control > Symbology tab is chosen.

The Symbology tab is similar to the Ordering tab, the most significant difference being it includes a Symbology sub-tab.

When printing with table symbology, elements are compared with the criteria of each line of the table, starting at the top, until a match is found. The element is then modified according to the symbology of that line. Once a match is made, the checking process is terminated unless the symbology setting of the matching line has the Fall Through option turned on. When this option is on, checking continues until another match is made that does not have Fall Through on, or the end of the table is reached.

Symbology changes are only made to the output print file and on screen. The design file is not affected. The Symbology sub-tab controls the symbology of elements as selected by the matching criteria.

SettingDescription
Ignore Element Specifies not to print selected elements.
Colour Determines the color of the selected elements.
Weight Specifies the MicroStation weight attribute. If on, Thick setting is disabled.
Style Specifies the MicroStation line style.
Fill Determines if elements are printed as filled. Elements that cannot be filled are not affected.
Fill Col. Specifies the fill colour for elements that are already filled or filled by the Fill setting. Outline colour for these elements is determined by the Colour setting or the original element colour.
Thick Sets line thickness according to the value defined in mm. If on, Weight setting is disabled. Thickness is only visible in the output; it does not appear on screen.
Capping Changes the Bentley Advanced Map Finishing line capping of elements. This setting does not affect particular elements such as cells, text, or raster elements. Capping is only visible in the output; it does not appear on screen.
Cell / Text Scale Scales cells, shared cells, text and text node elements by the entered factor. For example, 200% doubles size relative to other elements.
Freq. Modifies the PostScript Lines Per Inch setting temporarily for any element that matches the current line. Frequency is defined as a percentage of either the device default or the value in the Bentley Advanced Map Finishing Print dialog, only if the override option is used.
Size Defines a constant output size in millimeters for text and cell elements.
Patterning Allows you to specify areas to be patterned by Bentley Advanced Map Finishing, even if the element(s) is not patterned in the DGN file. See Symbology Patterning Control Dialog .
Fall Through Forces the checking process to continue checking an element against subsequent lines, if it matches the selected line. If the element's symbology is adjusted, matching it to the subsequent lines is affected.

For example, if Colour is set to 3 and Fall Through is turned on for elements on level 1, and the next line specifies all elements of colour 3 be printed as style 4, then all elements on level 1 are printed with style 4, regardless of their original colour.
